Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths arrested M K Farde, Assistant Commissioner of Employees Provident Fund after he was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000/- from a company official.
According to Bharti Roy of Vidhya Industrial Services, a firm providing manpower, Farde had agreed to dilute the charges against her company for a payment of Rs. 1,00,000 and further also offered to help the company.
The company was facing charges of not depositing its share towards the Provident Fund of its employees.
While initially a sum of Rs. 25,000/- was paid to Farde, as Roy could not raise the balance amount she approached the CBI who laid a trap for the officer and he was caught red-handed with the Rs. 25,000/- sent to him through the decoy.
However, Farde claimed that he was framed as he had stood firm against the company and said the decoy just kept the bundle of notes on his table which he said he did not even touch.
