The Sessions Court at Margao on Saturday witnesses a rare incident whereby a CD was played in the open court in a bid to prove that the tribals’ agitation on 25th May was not a peaceful one.
Advocate Amey Prabhudessai representing the prime suspect of the violence Deepak Faldessai sought the court’s permission to play the CD showing the agitators torching government vehicles and also assaulting government servants on duty.
However, Public Prosecutor Sarojini Sardinha strongly objected to the court taking cognizance of the CD or newspaper clippings until the author or the cameraman is examined in the witness box on oath.
She also objected to the bail application that is being heard by the court arguing that the Faldessai has not revealed the truth due to which investigations in the carnage is stuck and further argued that only a custodial interrogation will bring out the truth.
Additional Sessions Judge Vijaya Pol has reserved her order for 7th June afternoon.
