The Central government has notified the transfer of judges to the High Courts of Allahabad, Calcutta, Gujarat, and Himachal Pradesh, pursuant to Collegium resolutions passed earlier this month and last February.
Justice Sanjay Yadav, who was serving as the acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed a judge of the Allahabad High Court.
Justice Rajesh Bindal, who was serving as the acting Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, has been transferred to the Calcutta High Court.
Justice Vineet Kothari has been transferred to the Gujarat High Court from the Madras High Court. After Justice AP Sahi, who retired from the office of Madras High Court Chief Justice today, Justice Kothari is the senior most judge at the High Court. Until newly appointed Chief Justice, Sanjib Banerjee takes over as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, the Centre has also notified that Justice Kothari will serve as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
The Centre today also notified the transfer of Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath from the Uttarakhand High Court to the Himachal Pradesh High Court. This is the second transfer for Justice Malimath this year, who originally hails from the Karnataka High Court. He had been transferred to the Uttarakhand High Court in March this year, where he has also served as acting Chief Justice following the retirement of Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan last July.
The Collegium had passed resolutions proposing the above transfers earlier this month.
