Kolhapur/Raigad: Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday visited Raigad district’s Taliye village which has been devastated in recent vigorous monsoon.
A massive landslide, triggered by heavy rains on July 20, has also killed 44 people in the village falling in Mahad tehsil.
Announcing major relief for the affected people, Minister Rane said that the Centre will rehabilitate the village at a nearby place suggested by Taliye Sarpanch.
Those whose houses were completely destroyed in the rain fury, will be settled in dwellings newly-constructed under the PM Awas Yojana, he mandated.
He further said that his visit came on the direction of PM Modi and added that the premier will announce more relief measures once he submits a detailed report after getting back to Delhi.
Minister Rane also directed Raigad Collector to arrange accommodation for the displaced people.
Terming the monsoon tragedy as “unfortunate”, he assured the people of every possible assistance from the state and central governments.
However the very next moment, he made a veiled attack at CM Uddhav Thackeray, curtly remarking that the government representatives were discharging their duties without stepping out of home.
