Chemical Tests Confirm Tea Bag Adulteration

The chemical tests of the tea bags confiscated by the Food and Drugs Administration has confirmed that they were adulterated as colour was added to them.
The tests conducted at FDA laboratory have confirmed that oil soluble colour was found added to the tea bags that were manufactured in Kolkata and Assam and were seized from a wholesale dealer in Goa.

According to Assistant Drug Controller R Y Adekar, presence of oil soluble colour means the sample was adulterated.
It may be recalled that following a raid on 3rd May the department had seized 60 bags weighing five kilograms each of the Kolkata based Ruby brand and 520 bags weighting five kilograms of Assam based Sona brand from a godown at Usgao.
