Chetan Bhagat Woos Chowgule Students

Mr. Chetan Bhagat, writer who has tasted success in Bollywood wooed students of Smt. Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao where he was the chief guest for the Founder’s Day celebration on Wednesday.

Mr. Bhagat is the author of four novels – Five Point Someone, One Night @ the Call Center, The 3 Mistakes of my life and 2 States – all of which have been very successful in the market.

In fact, two of his books – One Night @ the Call Centre and Five Point Someone have been adapted on the celluloid by the Hindi film industry. The film 3 idiots based on his book ‘Five Point Someone’ went on to become a blockbuster jettisoning Mr. Bhagat into becoming a youth icon and it was because of this that he was invited at the college.

Speaking to the around 2,000 students gathered, he shared his experiences while telling the students how to manage failures and to turn these failures into stepping stones for success by learning from the mistakes.

“What is important is that you have to be focused and motivated even during the most testing times,” he said.

Mr. Bhagat who is currently busy writing the screenplay for a movie based on his yet another book –  The Three Mistakes of My Life – attributed his success to being focused and motivated.

Mr. Bhagat also stressed the need for politicians to stay away from education and opined that when the two mix, it is the younger generation whose future is adversely affected. “Education should be for the purpose of enlightenment and not politics as is unfortunately happening in our country,” he said.

There was a brief interaction with the students but there was a huge queue to get his autograph.
