PWD Minister Churchill Alemao is determined to block Micky Pacheco’s induction in the cabinet and is prepared to go to any extent even if it means going to the people afresh arguing that just two swords cannot be in one scabbard, he and Micky cannot be in the same cabinet.
Speaking to Goa Chronicle in the midst of his confabulations with various political leaders from the Congress and even opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, he insisted that Micky Pacheco has no place in the cabinet.
He however refused to divulge his plans preferring to keep the cards close to his chest.
However, he did not rule out the possibility of a new Chief Minister taking over the State of Goa if Micky is inducted in the cabinet during the Christmas week. But whether the new Chief Minister would be from the Congress party or not, he refused to divulge.
Replying to a question, he denied that his statements were made in order to help Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to convince his party leadership on the danger the government will face if Micky is inducted.
“He is the chief minister who knows all that is happening,” he said asserting that he was doing what he felt was right without any permission or backing of any other leaders be it state level of national level.
He rubbished the possibility of the Congress Party taking a serious view of his moves arguing that whatever he was doing was in the best interest of the party itself.
“If Micky is inducted in the cabinet, then what face will the party have of claiming to be a principled party firm on certain matters,” he asked.
In the midst of his hectic schedule, Churchill also sought an appointment with the Governor at 1 pm on Thursday ostensibly to apprise him of the political situation. Incidentally, Digambar Kamat has fixed a meeting with Churchill and other MLAs at 12 noon.
