Churchill, Joaquim withdraws resignation on High Command order

PWD Minister Churchill Alemao and Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao have withdrawn their resignations after talks with the Congress party high command. Confirming this news to GoaChronicle.com, Jagmeet Singh Brar, general secretary and Goa In-Charge, said, “Both ministers have withdrawn their resignation and have decided to work in the interest of the party. Even Valanka Alemao has decided to work in building up the party amongst the youth members in Goa.”

Though what is important to learn is that Congress High Command has not made any promises to the Alemaos with regards to given Valanka Alemao any party ticket for the forthcoming Goa assembly elections, but instead have asked her to continue to work in the interest of the party and that the High Command will consider her efforts in the future, keeping in mind the overall interest of the party.

While the Chief Minister of Goa, Digambar Kamat made some serious representation to the party high command on the possibilities of the fall-out of the Congress-led government in the state on account of the resignation of the Alemao brothers; the Congress High Command in particular the All India Congress Committee President has not taken lightly to the continuous threats of toppling the Congress-led government by the Alemaos and has decided to push for a status-quo without adhering to any demands of the Alemaos in reference to the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress elections whether it was the revoking of the disqualification of Valanka Alemao or postponement of the Youth Congress elections. In fact sources close to the AICC President have mentioned that the Alemaos have asked to stop this continuous blackmailing tactics as it does not work in their favour or the interest of the party. Also Indian Youth Congress President Rahul Gandhi had no intention of postponing the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress elections.

Contrary to the media reports we have learnt that there has been no compromise or promise made by the Congress High Command on either the Benaulim Congress ticket to Valanka Alemao or the portfolios of the PWD Minister and Urban Development minister on the expected reshuffle of the portfolios of the Goa cabinet ministers. “We have not promised Churchill Alemao a ticket for his daughter for the forthcoming assembly elections,” said Brar.
