Judicial Magistrate First Class at Panjim on Friday issued notices to PWD Minister Churchill Alemao and Tourism Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar for their statements over the alleged Colvale land scam.

The petitioners moved a fresh contempt petition against the two ministers for commenting on the matter which was sub-judice. The duo reportedly commented on the case at a function organized in Nilkanth’s constituency recently with Churchill reported to have said that the case was a false one.
The petitioners had complained that Nilkanth had used his position to get land acquired for housing allotted to his Nilkanth Halarnkar Trust and also had allotted 23,000 square metres of land to a hotel management institutes whose antecedents are not known, for a throwaway price of only Rs 1,000 per square metre when the market rate was Rs. 4,200 per square metre.
