PWD Minister Churchill Alemao has warned the Congress Party not to ignore the demand for giving grants to English medium primary schools and asked for an opinion poll in the State on the issue.
Briefing media persons on Friday he said he would support the parents in their just demand over the same.

He said Brar was informed that the people making this demand have been loyal Congress supporters for years and added that he cannot accept a stand wherein the party does not accept a genuine demand of its loyal supporters.
Churchill also called for an opinion poll in the State to ascertain the wishes of the parents whose children are either studying of slated to study in primary schools and alleged that certain “high caste” people were now trying to deprive to lower caste of getting the opportunity to educate their children in English.
He argued that the Right to Education clearly states that the wishes of the parents should be considered while determining the medium of instruction.
It would be pertinent to point out that in the just concluded Assembly session, the government has decided to maintain status quo while at the same time, Parent-Teachers Association of the schools in Churchill’s constituency organized an impressive public meeting to demand grants for English medium primary school.
