The Town & Country Planning Department has insisted that M/s K Raheja first show the 10-metre wide access to their property in Carmona before undertaking any secondary development of the land thereby rejecting the Mumbai-based company’s application for permission to construct bungalows.
The Rajeha project in Carmona has been in the eye of a storm with the locals objecting to the project on various grounds and the issue has resulted in heated discussions at the gram Sabha where one even turned violent.
The TCP Department had earlier permitted Rahejas to sub-divide the property into plots with a condition that for any secondary development, a 10 metre wide access would be required. As there was no such access to the property, Rahejas approached the local MLA Churchill Alemao who is also the PWD Minister.
Churchill on 30th November 2009 moved a note asking the PWD to acquire the land on either side of the existing road leading to the Rahejas property so that a 10 metre wide access could be provided.
This move further angered the locals who have since them been objecting to the acquisition claiming that it is done to benefit the builder and not the public at large as claimed by the Minister in his note.
Armed with the note from the minister, Rahejas applied for construction license to construct bungalows in the property, but the TCP has rejected the application demanding that the 10-metre wise access be provided first.
