Cooch Behar, Jun 28 (GCCurrentAffairs) Clashes broke out between the ruling TMC supporters and opposition BJP at Petla village under Dinhata block in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district where a couple of policemen sustained injuries, their two vehicles were vandalized and the party office of the saffron brigade was ransacked, official sources said today.
The clashes broke out since Thursday evening in the village over smuggling of a car-load cattle heads, which the local people owning allegiance to BJP, protested for allegedly not having any valid papers and immediate fallout of political rivalry after a group supported by the ruling party came in and fighting happened throughout the night
and spilled over this morning.
However, when police force from Dinhata reached there early today, they were greeted with stone pelting in which two policemen sustained wounds and their two vehicles damaged.
The BJP party office was also ransacked during clashes for past two days, which fuelled over the cattle smuggling, when the TMC accused the rival for kidnapping a panchayet member recently.
Elsewhere at Pandua in the Hooghly district at least 10 people have been injured during clashes between the TMC and BJP on Thursday evening.
Three BJP woman supporters have been admitted to a hospital with multiple wounds.
