CM bats for Mopa Airport, says he had Matanhy’s support!

Remaining unfazed over the strong resistance coming to the government’s decision on the Mopa Greenfield Airport from some of the politicians and people in South Goa, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that he had been clear from the start that Dabolim Airport will continue while Mopa is required for the future; and this something that even the Late Matanhy Saldanha understood and agreed upon.

“Matanhy and I discussed the Mopa issue. He understood its need for the future development of Goa. I had assured him that Dabolim Airport will not close down,” expressed Parrikar.

Speaking further on the issue, Parrikar, stated, Dabolim Airport even with the new terminal will not be able to cater to the growing passenger in-flow into Goa. Dabolim Airport will not be able to go beyond 4.5 million passengers. Therefore, we need Mopa right now. We have got feelers from at least 15 global players who would be interested in developing the Mopa Airport.
