Addressing a crowd of around 400 people who were attending the meet called to condemn the attack on the MLA, Aruna said, “The CID should take my words on record that Parrikar and Dhond gave a supari to Kandolkar to attack Vishnu.” She said Parrikar and Dhond should be held responsible if anything happens to Vishnu.
Former Congress PWD minister Churchill Alemao, who attended the meet, said he had never heard of an MLA being attacked by his own party member. He demanded a proper inquiry “or else Parrikar should resign as home minster and make Vishnu home minister. He will immediately find out who the people are behind the attack”.
Former St Cruz MLA Victor Gonsalves demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident to find out who masterminded it. He claimed that till the accused are found, the people of Goa will not trust Parrikar.
Repeated efforts to get a comment from Parrikar on Aruna’s statement proved futile.
