CM does U-Turn on Sunburn: Sardesai

With the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar giving Sunburn Music Festival the in-principle nod to take place in its original location; Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai expresses surprise at what he claims to be a new U-Turn, “I am surprised that a festival that Parrikar has alleged as Opposition Leader to be responsible for promoting Goa as drugs and criminal capital after the death of 23 years old young girl due to a drug overdose is today been given a red carpet welcome by the government headed by Parrikar.

Sardesai further asserted that the statement that smoking will be banned at the Sunburn venue is a diversionary tactic and is nonsense as it is drugs like cocaine & other chemical drugs which are used during Sunburn and incidentally they are not smoked. The DJs playing music at the festival are for specific chemical drugs and even the organizers have a past record of arrest and detention in a foreign country for drug use and possession.

“The Government has to explain why single window clearances were not given to Goan water sports operators. But for such events government is giving single-window clearances,” question the MLA.

Raising questions on the turf war between two BJP MLAs, Sardesai, said, “In the last few days the Tourism Minister has by his statement sought to create some doubts about the venue of Sunburn. I  feel that this is  nothing but a turf war between two BJP MLAs and the Tourism Minister seems to be having scores to settle with the rebellious Calangute MLA Micheal Lobo. Or this is just another extortion attempt by the ruling party on the Sunburn organisers.”
