Chief Minister Digambar Kamat who was visibly upset with the sorry conditions in the police barracks at the South Goa District headquarters, asked the Public Works Department officials to submit a report within two days of the deficiencies therein.

Kamat personally inspected the barracks along with South Goa Superintendent of Police Allan de Sa and Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar. Besides, he also had a look at the gymnasium and the vehicle dump yard within the complex.
While promising to visit the barracks again next week, he suggested constituting a committee to monitor the works being carried out and observed that the situation has not changed much since his visit last year.
