Hyderabad, Jun 21 (IECurrentAffairs) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao inaugurated the World’s largest Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project at Medigadda Reservoir in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Friday.
Telangana Andhra Pradesh common Governor E S L Narasimhan, AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were present on the occasion.
Mr Rao inaugurated the project after performing a ”Yagnam”, near the reservoir.
The massive project termed as a boon to the state by the government, is intended to meet the irrigation needs of 70 per cent of the state with its head works taken up at a cost of Rs.80,500 crore.
The project with many special features is also expected to meet the drinking water needs of Hyderabad and its twin Secunderabad.
The government had completed the project within three years after Mr.Rao laid the foundation stone in 2016.
The Chief Minister had involved himself in every stage of the project.
The Governor and the three Chief Ministers watched a video presentation showing the salient features of the project after the inaugural ceremony.
