Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched the Action Plan for Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa which aims to upgrade and develop various important sectors of economic growth in the state on Thursday.
The Chief Minister, addressing the general public through a video conference, said no state could flourish if the villages were not self suffienct and hence village Panchayat should adopt various sustainable measures to gain economic empowerment for its village.
He appealed to all Panch members to get involved in the programme with dedication and identify deficiencies lying in their own Panchayat Ward and further initiate action implementing Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa to resolve local problems.
Dr Sawant said government aimed towards making cities sustainable and also to have sustainable production by implementing various initiatives for which public participation was required.
The Chief Minister said interaction would be held every month with all Panchayats and progress of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa programme would be reviewed. Government would felicitate those Panchayats which would implement the programme successfully, he added.
Dr Sawant released the first phase manual of action plan for Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa in the presence of Chief Secretary Parimal Rai (IAS) and Director General, Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (GIPARD), Mathew Samuel (IAS).
Minister for Panchayat Mauvin Godinho welcomed the initiative and expressed that Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa would achieve success in the rural sector.
Under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa a study of the economic revival for village panchayats was undertaken by Directorate of Higher Education and GIPARD. 25 colleges were involved in the process of data collection, preparation of individual reports of 191 village panchayats.
Action plan for Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa consist various aspects of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Youth and Adolescent, Senior Citizens, Women and SHGs, Tourism, Fisheries, Natural Resources, Various Schemes and their convergence and General-Good Governance.
Director, Directorate Higher Education, Prasad Lolayekar gave an introduction of the event. Director Training (GIPARD) Michael D`souza proposed a vote of thanks.
