Drawing attention back to the RP 2011 which was scrapped due to a large-scale fraudulent conversion of lands to benefit real estate developers, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar replying to a question asked in the House on who was Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister of State at the time when this scam was brought to light and whether the government would take-action against that minister, stated that the government will put forward the case to Lokayukta and the Anti-Corruption Bureau and named Atanasio (Babush) Monseratte as the TCP Minister at that time.
Following this statement of the CM, Atanasio (Babush) Monseratte currently the St Cruz MLA stood up and challenged Parrikar to conduct an investigation and prove his involvement in the scam. “If you feel that I am involved in the scam, I am open to any investigations. But, what are the reasons behind you scrapping the RP 2021 and will the government investigate that. I would like to clear my name, so please conduct an investigation,” expressed Monseratte.
Parrikar stunned by the declaration of Monseratte, stated, that Goa knows how clean the minister is, such was the confidence of the people in the scam that they have taken amount from real estate developers in cheque for conversion of land. There are so many is such cases of which I have copies.
