Chief minister Digambar Kamat on Tuesday held a meeting with senior officials of all government departments at government rest house, Monte Hill, to review the progress of various developments works in the city.
Senior officials of the PWD, irrigation department, electricity department, sewerage department and other agencies, besides the South Goa district magistrate G P Naik were present for the meeting.
Speaking to GoaChronicle.com, Naik informed that the chief minister inquired with the officials of the various government departments about the status of the various projects in the city and stressed on the need for coordination among various departments for speedy and hassle-free execution of the works.
The chief minister later also visited the Konkan railway station and instructed the PWD to construct parking lots for the motorcycle taxis, tourist taxis and auto-rickshaws. He also visited the sewerage treatment plant at Sirvodem, Navelim in view of the objections raised by the residents over land acquisition proceedings for the proposed expansion of the plant.
Kamat also visited the Moti Dongor slum residents and inspected the upkeep of the three toilets located there which are managed by Sulabh International. He instructed the civic officials to ensure that sanitary conditions are properly maintained in the toilets.
The chief minister, it is learnt, expressed his disapproval over the frequent digging of roads by the PWD, electricity department and telecom companies for various purposes and called for co-ordination among various agencies. The chief minister also called for status report of the works on a fortnightly basis from the various agencies, sources informed.
