CM says Tillari MoU was very vague

While the Tillari water channel has been opened to Goa and villagers from Maharashtra have suspended their agitation, Chief Minister,  Manohar Parrikar is of a strong opinion that the Tillari issue was perhaps raked up to blackmail Goa government, even as he said that the memorandum of understanding signed between Goa and Maharashtra was very vague.

Parrikar also ruled out the possibility of providing jobs to the people affected by the Tillari irrigation project but went on to add that Goa would give compensation to them as part of one-time settlement.

Stating that the visits by certain Congress leaders to the site where people affected by the project were agitating were made at deriving political mileage ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,Parrikar went on to add that the Nationalist Congress Party chief and the Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar also has promised to solve the issue.
