CM to demand CBI inquiry into Illegal Mining in Goa

While the BJP-Goa has demanded that its government led by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar takes legal action against the former Minister for Mines Digambar Kamat, it appears that the CM would be moving a file demanding for a CBI inquiry to investigate into the illegalities and irregularities in the mining sector in Goa.

Speaking to GoaChronicle.com, Parrikar stated, “The scope and expanse of illegal mining in Goa is wide and a national investigation agency like CBI would be ideal to probe the same.”

He further stated that his allegations against the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) stand vindicated by the Shah Commission report as its pointed out that the all environmental clearances issued by the MoEF to the state have been illegal.

“It would be very difficult for those indicted in the report to escape the hands of the law, as Action Taken Report has already been filed,” expressed the Chief Minister.
