Speaking at the conference of chief ministers on internal security chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at New Delhi, he called for police reforms to tackle the situation.
State chief ministers discussed in detail the situations prevalent in all the states and deliberated on internal security situation.
Parrikar informed the meeting that there exist communal harmony in Goa and what needs to be done is technological innovation in tackling the security particularly because many foreign tourists are visiting the state. The chief minister also asked the central government to allow another IRB battalion for Goa.
A proper electronic surveillance of the entire state is necessary; he said and also mentioned that police modernisation is necessary to deal with different situations including that of fake currency.
The meeting discussed other issues like intelligence collection system, procurement of arms and ammunition and crime and criminal tracking network system.
