Coastal Security Police Station Harbour To Strengthen Coastal Security

With an aim to strengthen the coastal security, the coastal security police station, Harbour was inaugurated by Home Minister Ravi Naik, in the presence of Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho, Director General of Police Aditya Arya, Inspector General of Police Sanjay Singh and others.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural function, the home minister said that the State has a 102 km long coast line and the Police are on guard against any attempts of infiltration and smuggling in the State. Goa Police are doing their best in nabbing culprits who are involved in criminal activities.

Naik stated that Goa being the tourist destination, there is a possibility of terrorists targeting it through sea ways; therefore, the state police are strengthening the coastal security with the due assistance from the Centre.

Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho complimented DGP Dr Aditya Arya for trying to make the Police force more responsive, responsible, disciplined and people friendly.

DGP Arya said that the Coastal Police station has six 12 ton boats and three 5 ton boats. He explained how the Centre has stressed on protecting the coastal areas of the country ever since the Mumbai attack, which claimed several lives.
