Lucknow, Oct 24 (GCCurrentAffairs) Uttar Pradesh Congress has complained to the Election Commission alleging manipulation in the counting of votes in the by-elections at the Gangoh Assembly seat in Saharanpur on Thursday.
A delegation of the Congress, under the leadership of State party In-charge (Administration) Siddhartha Priya Srivastava, reached the State Election Commission office and said that the administration was trying to make the Congress candidate lose and let the BJP candidate win during the counting of votes.
They have also alleged that in connivance with the administration, the ruling party had tried to manipulate the counting of votes.
It has been alleged that all the Congress agents and media were driven out of the counting spot and while ignoring the Congress candidate’s lead, the BJP candidate’s lead was portrayed.
Notably, Congress candidate Noman Masood was leading by about 14,000 votes against his nearest contender in the initial phases, but in the last rounds, the contest continued to reverse and as of now, the Congress contender is behind the BJP candidate Kirat Singh by 6,000 votes.
While Mr Masood got 62,881 votes and his vote percentage stands at 28, Kirat Singh has till now received 68,300 votes and has a vote share of 30.41. On the other hand, SP’s Inder Sen is on the third spot with 57,374 votes.
