Cong MLAs oppose Girish, Rally around Digambar as Goa Chief

As reported by GoaChronicle.com last week, All India Congress Committee (AICC) had finalised Girish Chodankar, secretary, AICC to head operations in Goa as the President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), however a majority of party MLAs have opposed the induction.

Congress has 16 MLAs in the Goa Legislative Assembly, most members want the party high command to appoint former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat as the Goa Congress Chief.

Most MLAs feel Girish Chodankar does not have the maturity to lead the political party of heavy-weights like in Goa Congress during turbulent times at a time when the party needs someone senior to control the party and to enforce command.

It would be interesting to view what steps Goa Desk-in-Charge Dr Chella Kumar would take considering AICC wanted to appoint Girish Chodankar and not Digambar Kamat.
