Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Thursday said that natural justice was done to those who had betrayed the coastal state.
In a statement, he said, ‘Goa is a land of natural prosperity. Goans have always worshiped nature. Natural justice has been done to the ‘betrayer of Goa’ former Union Minister Prakash Jawdekar who connived with the Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant in selling our Mother River Mhadei to Karnataka. His other partner in the crime, Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant will soon get his punishment. This is a lesson for all those who play with the sentiments and emotions of most tolerant Goans.’
Commenting on the change of portfolio of lone union minister from Goa, Chodankar said, “Our own North Goa MP Shripad Naik is now the new Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, Waterways, and Tourism. His demotion from the Independent charge of Ayush Ministry to the Minister of State is actually a blessing in disguise for Goa. I hope he will protect the interest of Goans and save Goa’s coastline and rivers from getting into the clutches of Crony Club of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
‘We hope he will take immediate steps to revive the most affected tourism industry in Goa and put an end to “Mission 30 percent Commission” of Tourism Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar,’ he said.
‘The cabinet reshuffle is actually just a face-saving exercise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The need of the hour was to change the pilot and co-pilot of the aircraft when the nation is passing through turbulent times. Changing the cabin crew will not help the country in any way,’ he taunted.
The State Congress President said, ‘The most incompetent Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan got his punishment for killing thousand of patients in Covid Pandemic. Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad who murdered freedom of expression on social media are now silenced. The exit of both the ministers is hopefully going to bring some respite to Covid Patients and Social Media users,’ he said.
Chodankar welcomed the decision of the newly-appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh Rajendra Arlekar of resigning from the primary membership of BJP.
‘I hope he (Arlekar) will not put Goa to shame with his acts and work only under the constitutional framework,’ Chodankar said.
‘Congress party will keep a close watch on the new political developments. We want to warn all the new ministers inducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to play with the sentiments of Goans. We hope better sense will prevail with all of them,’ he said.
