Congress confused on ‘Lokayukta’ stand in Goa

While national and regional political parties such as – NCP, Shiv Sena, Goa Su-Raj Party – that joined RTI Activist Advocate Aires Rodrigues campaign ‘No to Yes-Man Lokayukta’ were clear on their stand on the appointment of the controversial Judge B S Reddy to the post of Goa Lokayukta, Opposition Party continued to be confused on their stand. Both Opposition Leader Pratapsingh Rane and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subash Shirodkar told in a telephonic conversation that they have no issue with the appointment of B S Reddy as Lokayukta.

However, strangely Congress spokesperson Sudip Tamankar who was representing the party at the ‘No to Yes-Man Lokayukta’ press conference, when questioned, remained clueless on what to say and stated that he could not comment on the senior leaders stand, but said he would place all new facts in front of the party and take a reviewed decision.

Rodrigues, interjected the proceedings saying that he has spoken to both Rane and Shirodkar but did not comment on whether they are to withdraw their consent.

It may be recalled that Opposition Leader Pratapsingh Rane had already given consent to the appointment of B S Reddy as Goa Lokayukta.

According to Shirodkar, “We no issue with the appointment of B S Reddy as the  Lokayukta, we have just raised concern about the infrastructure for the Lokayukta which is not in place.”
