Congress demands arrest of FDA Director on Formalin issue

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has demanded the arrest of the Director of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) of the state for giving factually incorrect information about the presence of Formalin in the imported fish being sold in the fish markets in Goa.

Besides the arrest of the Jyoti Sardesai, Director, FDA, Congress has also threatened the BJP-led government that it would take the matter to court is no action is initiated against those who use Formalin to preserve fish.

The party through its leader and former MLA Agnel Fernandes has filed a police complaint against Sardesai on the Formalin issue at Agassaim police station.

“The FDA reports were manipulated, she willfully misrepresented the facts of the presence of Formalin in fish and concealed the questionable acts of usage of Formalin by fish traders,” Fernandes stated.
