Congress demands fast track courts for Rape cases

The Congress legislature party (CLP) on Tuesday condemned the incident that took place at Vasco where a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a school and demanded that the government should immediately install CCTV cameras in schools for the security of children.

CLP spokesperson Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said that the government should immediately start fast track courts in the state and if there are no judges then they should be immediately appointed.

“All rape cases should go to fast track courts,” Reginaldo said, adding that within three months, the forensic laboratory should also be up.

The Congress party assured the government to support any legislation to increase the sentences or to make a harsh sentence as punishment. He said that the Congress expressed shock about such incidents happening in the state of Goa and also expressed sympathy to the victim girl’s family.

Reginaldo said “We hold the administration along with chief minister Manohar Parrikar responsible for this. The simple reason is that when the government says that it has zero tolerance to corruption and rapes, these types of incidents are happening.”

The CLP has demanded that the government should immediately initiate steps to provide security at schools and safety for girl students by installing CCTV cameras in schools, said Reginaldo.

“Security should be given to schools. Government should issue orders to immediately put CCTV cameras in schools,” he added.

Congress party general secretary Sankalp Amonkar said “Almost 24 hours have passed for the incident and why is the police not been able to arrest the culprit?” “I am not able to understand why police are not able to arrest him,” he added.
