Congress feeling the heat of losing
Even MLAs like Agnelo Fernandes, Chandrakant Kawalekar, Shyam Saterdekar and Pratap Gawas appear to be a very sticky wicket; in fact sources indicate they have lost their seats.
While certain members of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) continue to harp about achieving 23 seats in the results, many within the GPCC office bearers itself feel that if the Congress party gets to 16 seats it will be a miracle and all the big talk of certain politicians and office bearers do not matter, since the high command in Delhi is expecting that the performance of the party will be dismal; therefore actions are on the way to lure the BJP alliance partner MGP and also independents.
The party decision to field candidates from families on the pressure of certain political lobbies in the state coupled with the large-scale corruption issues in the state are some the reason why many silent voters have voted against the Congress party.
