Congress feeling the heat of losing

Even though the results of the March 3RD Goa Assembly elections have not been declared, the Congress party who has been power for the last five-years through its alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) appears to a worried lot of politicians, especially its stalwart politicians such as Churchill Alemao, Joaquim Alemao, Pratapsingh Rane, Dayanand Narvekar, Alexio Sequeira, Manohar Azgaonkar, Atanasio Monseratte and the current Chief Minister Digambar Kamat whom according to certain feedback received by team in each constituency  might not win in their respective strongholds.

Even MLAs like Agnelo Fernandes, Chandrakant Kawalekar, Shyam Saterdekar and Pratap Gawas appear to be a very sticky wicket; in fact sources indicate they have lost their seats.

While certain members of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) continue to harp about achieving 23 seats in the results, many within the GPCC office bearers itself feel that if the Congress party gets to 16 seats it will be a miracle and all the big talk of certain politicians and office bearers do not matter, since the high command in Delhi is expecting that the performance of the party will be dismal; therefore actions are on the way to lure the BJP alliance partner MGP and also independents.

The party decision to field candidates from families on the pressure of certain political lobbies in the state coupled with the large-scale corruption issues in the state are some the reason why many silent voters have voted against the Congress party.
