Panaji, November 26 (GCCurrentAffairs): Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar will be holding one-day-long Satyagraha in Panaji on Tuesday, November 27, to demand resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Chodankar will be sitting alongside RTI Activist Rajan Ghate who is on fast unto death for last eleven days at Azad Maidan in Panaji pressing for the resignation of the CM, owing to his ill-health.
“Things in Goa are going from bad to worst. RTI activist Rajan Ghate has been on the fast unto death for last eleven days, and State government is not moving an inch showing its arrogance, inhuman, careless and selfish behaviour,” Chodankar told reporters.
He said that to join hands with Ghate, he has decided to sit on a one-day-long Satyagraha at Azad Maidan in Panaji, with a demand to Restore Democracy in Goa tomorrow.
“While supporting the demand for working CM for Goa, I am equally concerned about our CM’s health as he is battling with dreaded illness,” Chodankar said.
The Congress leader said that he is concerned about health of Parrikar as well Ghate, who is on fast unto death.
“Lives of both of them are precious for Goa. This struggle is to restore parliamentary democracy and governance in Goa,” Chodankar said.
“The demand is from people of Goa and not just from the Congress as an opposition party,” he added.
