Congress High Command to send a two-man team to Goa

In an effort to stem the rot and strengthen the Congress in Goa, senior leaders of the All India Congress Committee in a meeting held yesterday has decided to send a two-man team to investigate the current party situation in Goa including the recent Cortalim election surprise withdrawal of the Congress candidate.

A senior member of the AICC who was a part of the meeting told that the high command is aware of the machinations of some of the Congress leaders including MLAs; their growing proximity to the ruling party and their attempt to destabilize the Congress party in Goa; therefore the high command has sent in a two-member team to investigate and suggest way forwards.

So much so is the discomfort of the high command with the local Congress leaders that even though a decision to remove the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, president, Subash Shirodkar has been taken, until the get their internal reports on the loyalty of the senior Congress leaders in Goa, no decision on the new president will be taken.

“We are aware of the role of Godinho and Alemao in the Cortalim by-poll. But in time we will address these issues effectively,” expressed the AICC member.
