Margao, December 19 (GCCurrentAffairs): Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai has accused Congress of hounding Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar over his health by offering him challenges against his medical conditions.
Sardesai was referring to the recent statement by Goa Congress Chief Girish Chodankar asking Parrikar to unfurl the tri colour flag on State Liberation Day, December 19, today.
“Goa is a progressive state and people here are progressive. We have to liberate ourselves from the negativity. There is also a political negativity,” Sardesai said addressing Liberation Day Event in Margao town.
“The main opposition party has sidelined all other issues and is targeting CM on his health. They are hounding him. This is undoing of Goemkars (Goans),” he alleged.
“Goans have a big heart. When one leader is sick, one should not hound him and chase him by challenging him to hoist the flag for liberation day or visit the bridges,” said Sardesai, who is also Town and Country Planning Minister in Parrikar cabinet.
The Chief Minister had recently visited two underconstruction bridges on Mandovi and Zuari rivers each.
“The opposition party is just trying to play politics out of it (CM’s health). I don’t think any Goan will feel good about it. We always sympathise with the one, who is sick,” he said.
The minister said that Goa government has been developing the state at a historical pace.
“While State government is delivering for the people, it also harbours certain expectations from the citizens. The citizens should be alert but not cynical,” he said.
“Some people are trying to convince you that all the development that is taking place is to finish the state. This negativity should be avoided. We should have positive mindset,” Sardesai added.
The minister said we have also tried to expand on the idea of Goemkars without boundaries specifically to tap the Goan diaspora abroad and have promised to extend the Goemkar First idea when it comes to investments by the overseas Goans.
“Whilst we do all this and intend to liberate Saxticars from the neglect especially when it comes to the long pending demand of the modern bus terminus and the demand of the Muslim community for a kabrastan,” he added.
