Shimla: All 20 members of Opposition Congress party on Thursday boycotted Himachal Pradesh Assembly session and joined the protest of five Congress MLAs, including CLP leader Mukesh Agnihotri, at the Vidhan Sabha gate.
The proceeding of Assembly lasted without opposition, only CPI(M) member Rakesh Singha and two independent members Hoshiyar Singh and Rajinder Rana remained present in the House.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that he, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Parmar and Mr Rakesh Singha took first shot of Covid Vaccine at Assembly complex today.
He also urged members of his Cabinet and Assembly that they should register themselves for the vaccine in a Covid Vaccinatation centre set up in the state assembly secretariat.
Mr Thakur gave reply to the four-day-long discussion on the motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address and said that 18 members took part in the discussion.
Mr Thakur said that ruling party was not expecting that opposition members would block the movement of Governor Bandaru Datatrya as he was going Rajbhawan on February 26.
‘I am witness of incident that leader of opposition Mr Agnihotri pushed ADC( Aide De Camp ) of the Governor aside when the latter was moving out of Assembly,’ the CM said.
He condemned the protest of Congress MLAs before the chair of Deputy Speaker Hans Raj when the House was discussing the Governor’s address.
” I am ready to view the CCTV footage of Assembly sitting with media to make it clear how opposition members tried to take the law and order in their hands.” the CM pointed out.
The Chief Minister accepted that Covid pandemic not left any section of society untouched.
No one imagine the catastrophic outcome of Covid pandemic as it exposed the management and Health services. There were less than 50 ventilators in the state of which many were not in working condition, Mr Thakur pointed out.
He said some of Opposition member refused to take the vaccination stating the it belongs to BJP. He said that ‘it is disrespect to our scientists as world largest Vaccination program is running in India.’
He said that exemption was given to commercial units for payment of power bills and financial assistance was provided for Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, farmers producing flowers and Fishermen affected by the Covid pandemic.
The State Government released advance installment of three months pension under welfare schemes to provide relief to the people affected by the Covid pandemic, he noted.
He said that state’s ranking in ease of doing business improved from 14th to four.
He said Rs 67 Cr lift water scheme would be started soon in three phase to supply 45 MLD water to Shimla town.
Mr Thakur said that farmers are supporting Centre’s three farms laws despite opposition efforts to mislead them.
