Congress MLA Umesh Jadhav resigned to Assembly

Bengaluru, Mar 4 (GCCurrentAffairs) A major setback to the Congress in Karnataka, a party MLA, Umesh Jadhav
had resigned to the Assembly and likely to contest as the BJP candidate against the Congress leader
in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge, here on Monday.

The Congress MLA, who is one of the dissident Congress member, was represented the Chincholi Assembly segment in the Karnataka Assembly.

Umesh Jadhav, who had visited Karnataka Assembly speaker, Ramesh Kumar in his residence located in Srinivasapura taluk in Kolar district, and submitted his resignation and appealed to accept it without any delay.

Jadhav, who had resigned to the party and the Assembly is expected to formally join the BJP in the presence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a party rally scheduled to be held on Wednesday at Kalaburagi.

The Speaker, who has received the resignation letter of Jadhav, is however is yet to take any decision to accept it or not, as a petition had been submitted to him by the Congress Legislative Party leader Siddaramaiah, recently seeking disqualification of membership of Jadhav who had defied the party whip by staying away from attending a CLP meeting.

Mr Siddaramaiah, had also recommended for the disqualification of membership of three other Congress MLAs, who had also defied the party whip earlier.
