Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has moved Judicial Magistrate First Class, Panaji, on the alleged forgery of documents by its ten MLAs who had defected and joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019.
Chodankar, who is also a petitioner before the high court on disqualification if it’s ten MLAs, has prayed for registration of FIR against all the ten MLAs, the proposer of resolution, and seconded proposal and 53 other persons who had signed the ‘forged documents’ and urged to take action against the persons in accordance with law as they had interalia committed offences under Sections 192, 193, 199, 200, 209, 463, 465, 468, 471, 473, 476, 120 etc. of the Indian Penal Code.
Chodankar had filed a police complaint at Panjim Police Station on April 4, 2021, against the MLAs and others and subsequently with the Superintendent of Police, North Goa, on May 5, 2021, against preparing forged documents to create fake evidence.
Chodankar has prayed before the court to direct PI Panaji to register FIR and to direct PI and SP North to conduct an independent, free and proper investigation and also prayed the court to monitor the investigation and direct PI to timely submit the progress of the investigation to the court.
