Congress MP akins Parrikar to ‘Gabbar Singh’

Normally considered to be a timid and articulate Congress MP – the lone Rajya Sabha member from Goa, Shantaram Naik took pot shots at the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, likening him to India’s most revered celluloid villian ‘Gabbar Singh’ of the big blockbuster Sholay.

Saying that Parrikar is running the BJP-led government as a ‘one man army’, the people of Goa will be forced to ask in a short-while ‘kitne ne aadmi tha re’ (how many men were there) – which was the most famous dialogue from the movie. But it is a pun referring to the fact that with the CM controlling most of decision and with other ministers/MLAs not allowed to work without approval from Parrikar for even the smallest issue. Soon people will keep asking, how many ministers were there.

Yet another pot shot taken by the MP was on the ‘Laadli Laxmi’ scheme, wherein he stated, “I hope to avail of the  ‘Laadli Laxmi’ scheme, the BJP government does not impose the criteria that the women must marry BJP men.”
