Canacona residents complained of receiving untreated water as the water flowing through their pipes was red in colour besides having some foreign particles in it.
According to a local resident Sushila Komarpant, this has been going for nearly a fortnight particularly in the area under the jurisdiction of Canacona Municipal Council.
PWD officials conceded that there was a problem because one of the storage tanks at Shristhal had accumulated a lot of sediment due to the high turbidity that was prevalent in the water during the monsoon season.
However, they clarified that the problem has been resolved as the tank was cleaned on Friday and the other tank was taken up for dissemination on Saturday.
The problem reportedly occurred because three of the six filter are not functioning as a result of which the water entering the tank is not filtered properly.
