Ahmednagar based contract killer Ajit Nair along with two of his accomplices were arrested by officers of the Crime Branch on Friday from a village in Bicholim Taluka where they were hiding. However their fourth partner Amol managed to evade the police.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrakant Salgaonkar, Ajit had shot dead Bapusaheb Kandekar, Deputy Sarpanch of Sopa village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra on 13th November and since then was hiding in Goa.
Ajit’s gang was reportedly paid 3,00,000/- by Rajaram Shelke who was the political rival of Bapusaheb. “Sopa police had alerted us of the possibility of Ajit hiding in Goa and accordingly we launched our operation to trace and nab him,” said Chandrakant.
The gang apparently rented out the room with the help of one Patil whom the police are also looking out for.
