Coronavirus: Goa Govt orders closure of all educational institutions, pubs, casinos till Mar 31

Panaji, Mar 14 (GCCurrentAffairs) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said all schools, colleges pubs, movie halls, public swimming pools, spas, boat-cruises and casinos have been directed to remain closed till March 31, 2020.
Addressing a press conference after
chairing a meeting of the government’s high powered committee and attended by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and other top officials, the Chief Minister said the
closure would come into effect from midnight on Sunday. He said malls, restaurants and hotels would, however, remain open and directions for closure were only meant for places where people gathered in closed premises.
He requested tourists not to visit Goa as precautionary measure.
The Chief Minister said the state government was also in the process of purchasing more thermal scanners to be installed at the Dabolim International Airport, ports and railway stations in the state.
“Schools, colleges pubs, movie halls, public swimming pools, spas, boat cruises and casinos will remain compulsorily closed from midnight on Sunday to March 31. Restaurants, hotels and malls will remain open,” he said.
Dr Sawant said a viral lab to test samples drawn from coronavirus suspects would be started in Goa within a month.
