The total number of cases in India surged past the 12,000-mark on Thursday while the death toll has climbed to 414.

Issuing a stern warning to people who added to the crisis by spreading misinformation about resumption of train services, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted police has “tracked down the accounts” who were behind the spreading of misinformation regarding commencement of train services.

This misinformation may have been a factor behind a protest by migrant workers near Mumbai’s Bandra station.
Deshmukh said that “eleven different methods were used” to spread the news.

FIRs are being filed in these incidents and appropriate legal action will follow, he said in a tweet.
