Ponda police arrested a couple for duping Goans by promising them jobs overseas and collecting money from them.
Acting on a complaint lodged by one Honorato Pereira from Tishem Borim, the Ponda Police arrested Ramji Vishwakarma and his wife Suda from their residence at Kurti. Police also recovered seven passports from them including one of a person from Nepal.
Police disclosed that the Vishwakarmas would take money from local youth promising them jobs overseas but did not provide any employment. Honorato in his complaint stated that he had paid the couple ` 24,000/- six months back and every time he contacted them about progress, they would give some excuse or the other. Finally left with no option Honorato lodged his complaint and the police arrested the couple.
Meanwhile in a tragic accident 19-year old Prasad Parsekar succumbed to injuries sustained in a self accident at Tisk Usgao while he was on his way to the gymnasium for his regular exercise. Parsekar who was rushed to the GMC breathed his last at the hospital.
