Mysuru: Farmers’ Association Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha’s (KRRS) state president Badagalapura Nagendra on Thursday urged the State government to announce a special package for people to survive during the lockdown.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, he said in the first wave, people faced a lot of problems. Not only the state government, but even the Centre has also failed miserably, he said.
Even as the second wave is claiming scores of life, there is a threat of another wave. The government should at least take concrete steps to help people in distress, Mr Nagendra urged.
On the vaccination process, he said the government should stop lying on vaccination, be open and tell people what exactly is the problem. It is not a problem to manufacture vaccines in large numbers given the present situation. The state government should get ready to vaccinate every one, he pointed out.
Criticising the Andhra Pradesh government which has announced free treatment for covid patients, he asked if you can’t offer beds for patients in private hospitals, what are the steps that you claim to have taken ?
”The virus has spread rapidly in rural areas and there seems to be no value for loss of life. There should be sincere attempts on the part of the government to fight the virus, help farmer families, labourers and other poor class with essentials till the situation returns to normalcy,” he added.
