COVID-19: Jammu School Education begins home classes for students, introduces ‘Aao Baat Karein’ helpline

Jammu, Mar 29 (InsideKashmir) Amidst the coronavirus pandemic threat, the Directorate of School Education, Jammu, has started home classes to compensate for the loss of regular classwork as schools are shut in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The department has also introduced ‘Aao Baby Karein’ counselling helpline to de-stress the students.
“A new hub of knowledge home classes’ will help students and parents to adjust to the sudden shift to schooling at home,” Director, School Education, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta here on Sunday told UNI.

She said that to make the programme success, teachers of Jammu division are contributing to connect with the learner in these odd times.

She further said that teachers can join the programme at and contribute material and ideas available on official website.

Ms Gupta further said, “we will provide recorded lectures on topics covering at least the first few chapters of all subjects of all classes till the regular classwork resumes.”

“The recorded lectures will be transmitted through the possible electronic mediums, including our official website, WhatsApp and Telegram groups and on Facebook,” said the Director adding that as the schools were closed, it was the need of the hour to help the school children in their studies. “It is heartening to note that many individuals and agencies, including our Jammu Kashmir Knowledge Network, are providing a platform for accessing e-content for the benefit of students,” she said.

Through a notification, the Directorate of School Education has requested the teaching staff to pitch in by sending recorded lectures and e-content.

The department however, have requested to the teachers that during the current period of crisis, fill required details on the Google forms and contribute by sending recorded lectures, powerpoint presentations, notes and any other kind of e-content which would compensate for the loss occurred due to the lockdown.

The order has also appealed to the school heads to register themselves on appealing, stay organised. Stay connected. Stay home. Stay safe.

All heads of schools in the Jammu division have been told to create WhatsApp and Telegram groups of students and parents wherever possible in order to provide recorded lessons to them as per the academic calendar.
The Director further added that it has also been decided to extend the services of its Tele Counselling helpline “Aao Baat Karein” beyond its basic functions to making an effort to resolve the problems currently being faced by students, parents and teachers.

“We have collaborated with the Brainpreneurs – Child Development Centre (CDC), Jammu, an organization dedicated to the cause of Child Mental health,” she said and added that the trained clinical Psychologists of Brainpreneurs-CDC along with teachers Counsellors Counselling Psychologists shall be available for counseling to guide students, parents and teachers on the helpline number 6006800068.

“All the Students, Parents & Teachers feeling any anxiety or other issues arising due COVID-19 pandemic can call on the helpline number from 1000 hours to 1900 hours,” she said.

In-charge Counselling Cell, Romesh Sharma said, “calls related to academic concepts, exams, date sheet, time management, stress, covid symptoms, study techniques, online resources for studied, calls from stranded people.”

He added that many counsellors have volunteered for this cause
