Aurangabad: Aurangabad AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel has welcomed the decision to postpone the proposed ten-days total lockdown by the district administration till further order.
Earlier, Mr Jaleel had protested against the lockout saying that it was creating a problem for the livelihood of the poor and has decided to carry out a huge morcha today which was cancelled by him after the district collector announced to defer the lockdown.
He said Coronavirus is not completely eradicated yet, so he appealed to the citizens to follow Covid norms including wearing masks, social distancing and washing hands and avoiding to go in crowds, he added.
In a urgent press conference on Tuesday night by district Collector Mr Sunil Chavan had made the announcement in this regard and said that some changes have been made in the rules of lockout at the state level and till the notice of this change, the lockout is being canceled as per the instructions given by the Principal Secretary and the Guardian Minister.
Earlier the district administration had announced a lockdown till April 9 due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the district which was opposed at all levels.
The district collector expressed the expectation that the citizens of the district have cooperated with the administration till now and will continue to do so.
However, partial lockdown rules will remain in place in the district.
Therefore, shops can be kept open till 2000 hours, and the night curfew is still in place, he added.
