Agartala: The opposition CPI (M) has come down heavily on Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb for one of his recent statements against communists and accused him of instigate BJP cadres for intensifying attacks on leftists.
In a statement, CPI (M) termed Biplab Kumar Deb as an edition of Hitler, Mussolini and urged people to isolate such a fascist leader who has already proved himself anti-democratic and persuades vendetta politics.
He urged CM to refrain from the alleged unconstitutional and undemocratic statement.
On October 18, Deb in his speech in a party function at Ambassa in Dhalai district said the BJP government is working to uproot Communism by 2023.
He said, uprooting the seeds of communists from the remotest corners of Tripura and spreading the message of nationalism and ideas of Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be the priority of all BJP activists and supporters in the state.
“You must ensure that all communist ideas and thinking cease to exist in Tripura by 2023. This is your assigned task and I call upon you to perform it and dump communism in Bay of Bengal”, Deb said, adding that the negative attitude of communists towards the dedicated fight of the state government for development.
The CPI (M) condemned this threat and apprehended that Chief Minister has given indication to his party cadres to unleash violence on the opposition.
They further stated that many fascist leaders tried to wipe out the Communists but failed. Communists are the tested and trusted friends of the downtrodden people of society.
People will dump such type of leaders, the statement said.
“Occupying a constitutional post, no Chief Minister can speak in such a way. It is not only undemocratic but also unconstitutional”, the statement said and added that during the last 31 months the BJP-IPFT government encouraged attack on opposition, media and democratic institutions, which has blocked the pace of development.
“Due to the directions of the chief minister, police are not accepting any FIR of opposition”, CPM charged.
