Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava made as many as seven official trips in four months from January this year including a 12-day controversial trip to the United States of America.
As per information obtained under the Right to Information Act by activist Aires Rodrigues, Srivastava made seven trips to Delhi, one to Diu and one to USA.
While the bills of three trips to Delhi and the USA trip are yet to be submitted, the State incurred an expenditure of Rs. 39,019 on his two day trip to Diu and Rs. 1,05,560 on his four trips to Delhi.
In 2010 the Chief Secretary made 27 official trips in India and two overseas. While an amount of Rs. 5,91,099 was spent on his trips in India, the expenditure for his two overseas trips was Rs. 2,56,728.
While demanding that these frequent travelling by the Chief Secretary should be stopped as it was not only draining the state exchequer but also affecting the administration, Rodrigues pointed out that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had recently demanded that the Chief Secretary be transferred because of his unavailability in Goa.
