To celebrate Shigmo 2011, Margao Shigmotsav Samiti has organized various cultural activities in the city of Margao from 30th March to 2nd April.
On Wednesday, 30th March, Mujra Maza Lavanicha- a cultural programme by R V Theatres, Mumbai will be on Costa Grounds, Aquem at 7.30 p.m.
On Thursday, 31st March, Swar Barase – a musical extravaganza hosted by Vaishnavi Creations, Margao with artists Aroshi Mhatre, Chaitanya Kulkarni, and Rahul Saxena at Jageshwar Temple near Vishant Theatre, Aquem at 7 p.m.
On Friday, 1st April, a musical programme of devotional and hindi and Marathi film songs will be held at Multipurpose Grounds, Borda at 7.30 p.m.
On Saturday, 2nd April, Marathichya Paul Khuna- a programme by Sri Gajanan Entertainment, Pune will be held at Srikrishna Temple, Calconda.
On Sunday, 3rd April, Shigmo float parade will begin at 4 p.m. from Hospicio Hospital, Margao.
Total prize money for the event including competitions like fancy dress is Rs 4, 63,000. The first, second and third prizes for chitrarath, romtamel and folk dances will be Rs 46,000, Rs 26,000 and Rs 16,000 respectively.
For a smooth flow of the floats, a special float coordination committee has been formed, while a screening committee has been formed to prevent unauthorized floats from participating.
