Cuncolim Municipal Council has begun door to door collection in ward numbers 3 and 4 on a pilot basis.
While municipal staff will collect the garbage from the houses in these two wards on a daily basis, the inhabitants have been provided with two bins by the municipality to collect their wet and dry garbage.
Urban Development Minister and local MLA Joaquim Alemao also inaugurated two mini garbage compactors to mark the occasion.
While pointing out that Cuncolim city has received Rs. 19.5 crores by way of different schemes of the State and Central government, he promised another Rs. 28 lakhs to implement the door to door garbage collection scheme in all the wards of the municipality.
He also officially launched his campaign for a third term as Cuncolim’s representative in the Goa Legislative Assembly by appealing to those gathered to give him another chance to serve them.
